From all the pre – planning for all the events and making up the schedule, our Sports Day has arrived. One could see the glee on our students’ faces and the enjoyment and fun everyone is going to have.
Firstly, our reporting time to the college was 7:45. Then, around 8:30 we began with our Sports Day Celebrations. We began the day with our Prayer and our National Anthem. It was then followed by the Sports Day song where our Fy students Dhruvi shah, Urvi patel, Dhwani doshi, tanvi cheeda, darshak soni, deeba Tabitha and Hiral and karishma sang Chale chalo. Also another group of SY students : Kunal Kapadia, Kajal Singhaniya, Ankita Chettiar, Roopali Bhanushali, Dimple Desai, Dinesh Tripathi. They sang the song Aashayein. What a melodious voice all our singers have. They made the atmosphere and the event more sportive and optimistic. Our hosts for the entire day were Ishita, kunal, Rutvi and Minal.
After this, we had our meeting open. Then, we had the oath taking ceremony, where Archana ma’am helped us take the oath wherein we all abided by the sportsmanship spirit and its rules. Without a match past, sports day doesn’t seem like sports day. We had our band group along with our SY and FY match past students. The entire match was in sync and it made the sports day even more energetic. After our match pass, we had our running with the torch. This Olympic torch relay, the flames symbolizes the light of spirit, knowledge and life. By passing the flame from one person to another in stages, the Torch Relay expresses the handing down of this symbolic fire from generation to generation. It heralds the start of the Olympic Games and transmits a message of peace and friendship along its route. This was performed by all the teachers and a few students from FY and SY students.
This was followed by a Yoga session wherein Dhurvi, Faiza, Deeba, Simran and Ishita with their yoga mats showed us different types of yoga such as Viparita Karani Mudra, Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, Pavana Mukta, Harasana, Poorra Matsyendrasana, Parvatasana etc. The compering was done by karishma specially for yoga letting all of us know the importance of each asana and why yoga is important and everyone needs to perform yoga and make it a part of your routine. After a wonderful yoga session, we had a warm up session of zumba. These were performed by SY students : Anicia Pudheserry, Roopali Bhanushali, Pratha Patel, Rajvvi Himdev, Sharmin Sayed, Mehal Mehta. And our FY students : Dhwani shah, Dhwani doshi, Minal, Srushti Shinde, Riddhi Mistry, Flavia Dabre, Vidhi. Both the performances were a treat to watch and powerful yet relaxing.
After all the calming of our minds with the melodious voices and power-packed performances, all the participants were set to rock in all the events they had taken part in and the urge to win was sparkling in their eyes. We all were indeed excited to begin with our events and all the students of SY and FY were divided into 4 houses namely, yellow, blue, red and green. Also a scoreboard was maintained by Dhurvi for each event.
First we had our two simultaneous events : skipping and relay running race. The skipping event took place at Ground B wherein the skipping event incharge council member shared the rules of the event and the do’s and the don’ts. And here we began with the skipping and looking at the enthusiasm and the spirit of their faces, the game became more interesting and fun.
After these two simultaneous events, our next sport was Relay race where the council incharge of that sport briefed the participants about the rules. All the participants were ready for the relay race. It’s a race where a team of four participants run a predetermined distance in a sprint race, each passing a rod-like object called the ‘baton’ to the next person to continue the race. The last runner in a relay is called the ‘anchor’. It was absolutely an enjoyable sport wherein all the teams wanted to win and the other house members were continuously cheering them and boosting up their spirit to win. After the scoreboard had the scores of the winning house, our next sport was awaiting and it was throwball. Again, the council incharge of the sport let the participants know about the rules and the fouls and encouraged every participant to play wholeheartedly. All the participants geared up and were ready to just win and make their respective house win. After this we had our Kho – kho sport which seemed to be extremely engrossing and interesting as well. Again we had our council incharge briefing the participants about the rules and the foules. As it’s the second most popular traditional game, the participants were playing with their full energy. Then we had our most amazing and loveable sport named Badminton (singles n ad doubles). The council incharge explained the rules to the participants and then decided upon playing the doubles first and then singles. In a very smooth and competitive manner this sport took place and all the other non participants were cheering and enjoying the game. Though it seemed an easy game, the rules were such that the players had to play very sincerely and without any distraction aiming to win the game again.
After this game, it was the traditional game that we all used to play in our childhood and all of us enjoyed playing it named Lagori. We had the council incharge explaining the rules of the game and the teams were divided accordingly. Both the teams played enthusiastically, waiting to win the battle again. After this, Dodgeball game was played where the council incharge briefed the participants about the rules and how it is to be played and the participants were divided into two teams. Undoubtedly, the game was super fun where the aim was to eliminate the opponent player. After this the most awaited game was Tug of war where two teams were made and the incharge council member explained the rules. The teams were divided based on the houses and both the teams were fully set on fire to win the final game putting all their strength. Even the support staff joined the participants in this last game. It was completely a fun and amusing game where everyone enjoyed being a part of.
Now, all our games came to an end and the scoreboard had all the scores written of the winning house. After this, the announcement of the winners were made by our teachers and the victory stand was ready and the winners were all set to know on which rank 1st, 2nd and 3rd of the victory stand they shall be standing. Finally, Hansraj Jivandas college of education’s most amazing sports day comes to an end.
Lastly, this would have been possible without the help and guidance of our teachers Dr Archana ma’am , Dr Pallavi ma’am and Dr Shreema ma’am. The teachers appreciated all the efforts of the students who participated and contributed to this event as well as the student council committee.
